Debunking Right-Wing Spin on the CIA Leak Story

Much has been said since the indictment came down about a matter that, for everyone involved with the investigation, had been settled for a long time already. The right-wing spin machine has presented the following arguments in recent days: Plame’s identity was not compromised by the Bush administration as much as the she and the CIA compromised it on their own, the charges against Libby rely solely on a disagreement in how he and Tim Russert recall a conversation from 2003, and the Bush administration was victimized by a coordinated effort by Wilson and his wife to lie about the administration’s Niger claims. Bush Orders Staff to Attend Ethics Briefings

White House Counsel to Give ‘Refresher’ Course

I couldn’t help but think of Billy Madison when I read this. They’re going to be stocking up on lithium, amphetamine and puppy blood for this, as well as making sure 3 highly regarded exorcists are on hand to take care of anything that gets by the drugs. Rove wanted Bush to outsource the course to Halliburton’s HR department, but when they followed up, it turned out that Halliburton had no such course nor anyone capable of creating one.

The most favored ‘re-training’ method of the Bush administration.

Reed’s fees all paid by casino

Ralph Reed’s anti-gambling work in Texas and Louisiana was funded by an Indian tribe that derives all of its income from a single casino, according to U.S. Senate testimony Wednesday.

Reed, the former Christian Coalition leader who is running for lieutenant governor of Georgia, is an avowed opponent of legalized gambling. He has said he never knowingly accepted gambling money.

But Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who hired Reed to manage the campaign, made it clear to Reed that he was working for the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, according to a Feb. 11, 2002, e-mail released after the hearing.

Does anyone find it odd that these “religous conservatives” are up to their eyeballs in hypocracy? Thinking of Reed, Frist and Delay here…they lie without hesitation. Their #1 principle is to cheat.

Summit Protests Turn Violent in Argentina

I could be wrong…but I don’t think they dig us down in South America. Perhaps they should get Scott McClellan down there to explain to Argentina how they ‘think’ they dislike America, but are really just experiencing a form of dimentia brought on by an overload of ‘liberal media’.

Anthrax Vaccine Horror Story

(This is a first hand account) A veteran of the Air Force was innoculated with the Anthrax vaccine while in the service. Among the negative side-effects he suffered, one was that his body went into anaphylactic shock. Now he’s out and recently visited the local VA hospital. The VA doctor looked at his record and proceeded to chastise him by saying, “YOU NEVER WENT INTO ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK!” Continue reading

Bird Flu, Where’s Your Faith Now Bush?

Hearing President Bush envoke the opinions of scientists in regards to the Bird Flu, I wondered if anyone else’s ears started bleeding? Surely there were some bloody ears in Kansas, but I don’t think anyone from that state is risking eternal damnation by reading deadissue. Now, I’m not doubting the effect that a deadly virus could have on our country, but let’s get real about this. Some people have died in CHINA! Remember being a kid digging a hole in your back yard, thinking that if you dug it deep enough where you’d end up? We’re talking about an outbreak on the other side of the planet here.

Aside from the obvious hysteria alarm Bush sets off whenever he’s in trouble politically, to allocate over 7 billion dollars towards finding a cure is a gift to big pharma. The new policy also assumes that China either cannot or will not fix this on their own. Last time I checked, we’ve got more freedoms, and they’ve got the efficient government. If I had to put money on who could handle an outbreak of bird flu, I’d bet on China before the United States. All that aside though, I for one am insulted by Bush’s deference to Jesus when it comes to everything, only allowing logic and science to factor into his decisionmaking when his back is against the wall.

Follow this 7+ billion dollars and you’ll know why Bush is pro-science this week.

Kerry’s Iraq War Speech

“In fact, while some say we can’t ask tough questions because we are at war, I say no – in a time of war we must ask the hardest questions of all… Our troops have served with stunning bravery and resolve. The nobility of their service to country can never be diminished by the mistakes of politicians. American families who have lost, or who fear the loss, of their loved ones deserve to know the truth about what we have asked them to do, what we are doing to complete the mission, and what we are doing to prevent our forces from being trapped in an endless quagmire.

Some people would rather not have that discussion. They’d rather revise and rewrite the story of our involvement in Iraq for the history books. Tragically, that’s become standard fare from an administration that doesn’t acknowledge facts generally, whether they are provided by scientists, whistle-blowers, journalists, military leaders, or the common sense of every citizen. At a time when many worry that we have become a society of moral relativists, too few worry that we have a government of factual relativists.”

“New England May Have a New Star”

I had to go unplug the alarm clock (w/ radio) and bring it into the living room. These chuckleheads providing commentary on TV are especially stupid tonight, and don’t even deserve to be named. Someone like Dan Deirdorf f can make the mute button an option for me, but over time I’ve been able to develop a callus for the Gumbel/Simms tandem and a few others. As the NFL encores following a day of college games, the heady commentary slowly dies throughout Sunday, on dialysis by the 8:30 ESPN game and six feet under by halftime Monday night.

Patrick Pass broke a few runs and took a five yard pass for twenty yards, so the title phrase is spoken. Not that I have anything against Patrick Pass. In fact, he’s one of my favorite players. It’s the way these commentators sound like used car salesmen, with 75 percent of the insight coming in the form of stats, montages and scripted anecdotes on whatever player made the last good play.

A football game, this American creation that’s just naturally dripping with material from play to play to riff on, is cheaply dressed up and pimped out. There’s a reason why NFL Films only uses clips from the radio coverage. It wouldn’t work with a soundtrack of, “here’s why you like this guy who just made a play, here’s why you like this guy who just made a play, here’s why you like this guy who just made a play, here’s why you like this guy who just made a play…”

Bush on the Clinton Impeachment

Thursday, June 10, 1999
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas Gov. George W. Bush said Tuesday that he would have voted to impeach President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

“I would have voted for it. I thought the man lied,” he said in response to a question posed during a news conference.

Judith Miller’s Response

She’s got nothing to say in terms of her reporting in the runup to the war. It’s he-said/she-said…I’m posting this because I honestly feel that this woman just doesn’t get it. The corpses in Iraq is what this is about, but to these people who aimed to turn themselves into legends without having to fire a single shot, it’s just a game. Continue reading

Bledsoe Needs to Retire

He’s just not that good of a quarterback. All day long he failed to move in the pocket, and consistently made terrible throws. While I heavily questioned the Cowboys play calling throughout the game (after the Seattle turnover on the punt, why run it on third and 5 inside the 10?), Bledsoe has to know at this point in his career what balls he can and cannot through in certain situations. On the pick that set up Seattle’s game winning field goal, Bledsoe’s receiver on the far right ran a fifteen yard out with one defender in man to man coverage and another playing zone in the exact spot the ball would have to go. Drew doesn’t need to see the tape, doesn’t need ‘coaching’, doesn’t need to beat himself up over it…he just needs to go away. Anyone who doesn’t think Parcells is kicking himself for taking Bledsoe over Jeff Garcia, Mark Brunell or Kelly Holcomb is in denial!
