Alan Greenspan’s Replacement to be Announced Next Week

The retirement of Alan Greenspan from the Federal Reserve had been viewed for months by administration insiders as a moment that could play heavily into President Bush’s legacy. Perhaps the most critical appointment of his Presidency, Greenspan’s retirement towards the end of this year is something the administration is “intently focused” upon according to sources close to the matter. Earlier today this space was informed that it is a 99% lock at this point that Bush will be appointing his dog Barney to the position. An announcement is expected soon, but according to our confidential sources, should Barney die before the announcement can be made, the position would then most likely go to the President’s nephew Cletus. “He’s an born-again day trader, who Bush insists shares his values.” More to come…

Judith Miller’s Book Deal

Rumor has it she’s cashing in on her harrowing tale of self inflicted martyrdom, in hopes that there are a few hundred thousand suckers out there who haven’t yet realized that she’s a complete douchebag.

Carl Everett Time

Thanks to Mike for this link! Carl played in Boston for a few years, and is hands down the most mentally disturbed athelete I’ve ever heckled. One drunken Fenway evening, box seats behind Boston’s on-deck circle…”TAKE YOUR PILLS EVERETT!!!” Later on I did the same to Trot Nixon and he hit a three run homer to win the game. With the abuse I aimed at Jose Offerman, I was 2-3 that night. This article is a great read for anyone familiar with Carl. His White Sox face off with Boston this week in the wild card. Air America Beats Bill O’Reiley in NYC

As an avid radio listener of many genres, this made me smile. Franken’s show is high end…great guests, very smart conversation. Not on Air America, but Ed Schultz is also great. I get him from 2-5 here in Boston, and heard today that he just recently cleaned O’Reiley’s clock in Denver. The balance is shifting in talk radio.

Hannity’s Hate

From the September 26 edition of Fox News’ Hannity & Colmes:

HANNITY: Well, that’s pretty much what [anti-war protester] Cindy Sheehan has been saying: America is not worth dying for, that it’s been taken over by thugs. America without the Internet would be a fascist state. Are you willing to align yourself with all that radical extremism?

LEWIS: Well, good evening, Sean.

HANNITY: Good evening.

LEWIS: You know, I saw kind of a different protest out there. There were a lot of things going on. It really affected me to see so many Iraq veterans out there marching in front of the White House, talking about their experiences and why they’re disillusioned with this policy. You know, it’s

HANNITY: All right, Ted, I honestly, I’m not really — I don’t care about your thoughts. You can tell them to Alan. I’m not asking you that.
